Q Who is TripleTree Software?
TripleTree Software Inc (formerly SolomonJensen LLC) is a small software development and consulting company that has been operating just outside of Seattle, Washington since 2002. We released Streamline in 2005 in response to a family member's needs and have been expanding our customer base and improving our software ever since.

We firmly believe in offering a high-quality, low-cost product, and, to that end, we keep our costs low by working from home offices and not staffing dedicated sales or support personnel.

Q Why isn't there a phone number listed on this site?
Because staffing dedicated personnel to provide phone support would drive up the subscription cost significantly, we instead use our support forums and occasionally email to answer questions.

If you can't find what you're looking for in the Online User Guide, post your question to the support forums. We generally reply immediately during business hours, so check back in 10 minutes or so after posting, or simply subscribe to the topic using the link at the bottom of the forum page to be notified when an answer is provided.

Best of all, you'll be communicating with a developer, instead of a random support person in another country who barely understands the product they're supporting.

Q Is Streamline a web-based application?
Streamline is a Windows-based desktop application. It makes use of your Internet connection to download software updates and optionally transfer your backups to our servers for safekeeping. It will also synchronize information with your Streamline Central account, which is a web-based application that provides access to your customer information via your web browser.

Q Do I need special hardware to use Streamline?
No. Streamline will run on just about any Windows-based computer as-is. However, you can get more out of your Streamline installation by using a compatible barcode scanner, receipt printer, cash drawer, etc.

Q What does it cost to process EFT transactions?
To be clear, we are neither a payment gateway nor a Merchant Services Provider (MSP). Streamline will transmit your credit card and ACH transactions to one of several payment gateways on your behalf, as described on our Payment Processing page. Any fees associated with the processing of EFT transactions is billed to you directly by those providers.

Having said that, typical gateway fees are around $15-$20/month plus $0.10/transaction, and most MSP's charge between 2% and 4% plus a small transaction fee. The exact cost depends on many factors, such as the type of credit cards you accept, your average monthly volume, your average transaction total, etc.

Q Can I use my existing merchant account to accept credit cards?
Yes! If you already have a merchant account with a provider you are happy with, simply enter that information when you set up your gateway account. The gateway provider will batch your transactions and transfer them to your MSP for settlement.

Q Do I have to use your gateway to process EFT transactions?
There are a lot of payment gateway companies out there, and they differ more in reliability than in cost. We have integrated Streamline with several gateway companies over the years, and we now have a single preferred provider.

If you would like to process EFT transactions using Streamline, it will be necessary to have a gateway account with our preferred provider. Of course, you always have the option to process transactions using a card terminal or other method, and then simply enter the transaction information into Streamline.

Sometimes your bank may provide a web application you can use to process electronic payments. This is not a true gateway because you have to enter transactions manually, and there is no way for software like Streamline to post transactions on your behalf.

Q Why is Streamline sold as a monthly subscription?
There are essentially two ways to buy gym management software today: as a "one-time" purchase or as monthly fee.

Our closest competitors charge around $2000 for a "one-time" purchase, but then charge more for updates after the initial purchase. If you end up not liking the software, you're out a big chunk of change.

On the other hand, there are several companies out there who offer software for "free" because their real intent is to charge you for payment processing at elevated prices. It's easy to identify these companies because they never show pricing on their web site, and you can only try their software after contacting a sales person. The software they provide is usually second rate, and frequently not even developed by the same company because their primary service is, after all, payment processing and not software development.

Our expertise is software development, and we are constantly releasing new features and improvements to existing ones. It is our belief that you should be able to try software before you buy, and then only pay for it as long as you need it. We have no long-term contracts or 90-day notice periods to cancel -- simply use Streamline for as long as it makes sense to do so, and send us an email if you need to cancel your subscription.

For a simple, low monthly cost, you'll receive:

  • Unlimited software updates
  • Remote storage of database backups
  • Daily email report containing key statistics and alerts
  • Access to customer information via the Streamline Central web site
  • Unlimited email support
